PSA: Painting the fence with my family was a surprise win.
I always painted the fence alone to keep it neat. This spring, my wife and kids came out to paint with me. We finished fast and had a good time. Now I see doing things together is better. Chores feel less like work.

Wouldn't you see it as just another job to check off? I was the exact same way, treating chores like a solo mission that had to be done perfectly. But having everyone out there with me, talking and splattering paint a little, it totally flipped that for me. It stopped being about the fence and turned into this thing we were all doing at the same time. The work got done way faster and we were laughing. I get what you're saying, but now I see the task itself isn't the only point.

My deck last summer was the same kind of eye-opener. Rushing to stain it alone felt like a grind, but with my brother helping, the time flew by. You're right, the job gets done and the whole mood of the work changes.
