Pro tip: paint color matching works great on old tile

I was redoing my mom's bathroom in Columbus last month and couldn't find replacement tile for a 1980s backsplash. Took a chipped piece to Sherwin-Williams and they color matched it perfectly in a satin enamel. Two coats with a small foam roller and it looked brand new. Has anyone else tried this on old shower tile or just backsplashes?

Tried it on my own shower tile last year and it worked perfectly. The guy at the paint counter looked at me funny when I showed up with a broken tile piece but he matched it no problem. Just make sure you clean the tile really good first and let it cure a few days before getting it wet. I did two thin coats with a foam brush and you cant even tell which tiles are painted. Only thing is you gotta be careful with scrubbing later.

Yeah exactly, on the scrubbing part. I'd use a soft sponge only.
