Update: My sprayed edges faded after 9 months and I'm glad they did

Everyone raves about painted book edges but mine looked plasticky and cheap, plus the color rubbed off on my hands every time I read. I stripped them down to raw pages with a sanding block and now the deckled texture actually feels like a book instead of a toy. Has anyone else gone backwards on a popular mod just because it aged weird?

Saw a booktuber mention the same thing a while back. Said the paint started flaking off like dry skin after a year. Yours rubbing off on your hands sounds way worse though. I get why people like the look fresh out of the box, but it never ages well. Sanding them down sounds like a solid fix. Raw edges just feel honest somehow.
