Overheard a guy on a Zoom call in a coworking space in Chiang Mai talk about slow travel

I was grinding away on client work when this guy next to me said he spends 3 months minimum in every city he visits, no exceptions. That got me thinking about how I keep rushing through places just to check them off a list. Has anyone here tried slowing down their pace and found it actually helped their work or their mindset?

Wait, isn't moving through places quickly the whole point of doing remote work though? If you're spending 3 months in every spot you're basically just living there which kind of defeats the purpose of having that freedom to roam and explore. Getting stuck in a slow travel rut sounds like it'd make you super complacent and before you know it you've been in the same coffee shop for half a year lol.

The slow travel guys always seem to have the best coffee shop stories and actual relationships with locals instead of just hostel blurbs. Three months minimum is wild though, that turns a trip into more of a lease situation.
