Overheard a guy in a Lisbon cafe say he books stays by the 'laundry test'
I was working at a spot in Bairro Alto last week and the guy at the next table told his friend he only picks places with a washer in the unit. He said it saves him about 50 euros a month on laundromat trips and hours of his time. I realized I've been wasting so many afternoons hunting for coin-op spots. How do you guys handle laundry on the road, especially in cheaper countries?

I spent three weeks in Porto last year and made the washer a must for my rental. It saved me at least 40 euros and countless hours I would have spent sitting in a steamy laundromat. I found that many affordable apartments in Portugal actually include one. Now I filter for it before I even look at the photos. It completely changes the rhythm of a long stay when you can just toss a load in while you make breakfast.
