I spent a week in Medellin with a 3-hour daily window for work calls

My Airbnb had a power cut that lasted 8 hours on Monday, so I had to scramble to a cafe. The cafe's internet dropped twice during a client call, and I had to hotspot from my phone. That cost me about $15 in extra data charges I hadn't planned for. The rest of the week, I had to pre-download everything and work offline just to be safe. It made me realize how much I depend on one steady connection. Has anyone else had to completely change their work flow because of unreliable infrastructure in a city?

Leo603 is right, my backup plan is just giving up and taking the day off.

Yeah I read an article about this, how digital nomads have to build in a "failure budget" for stuff like extra data and cafe hopping. It's not just the money, it's the mental load of always having a backup plan. Really makes you appreciate simple reliability.

Saw a thing about how this is the real cost of remote work.
