I gave up my fancy co-working space in Lisbon and my work got way better

For 6 months I paid 200 euros a month for a spot at a popular co-working hub with fast wifi and free coffee. I thought it was the key to being productive while traveling. But I was always distracted by noise and felt pressure to 'network'. Last month I switched to working from my apartment's balcony and a quiet library. My focus improved so much I finished a project in 2 weeks that had been dragging on for a month. The view is free and the only person I need to talk to is my cat. Has anyone else found that the 'perfect' nomad workspace actually held them back?

I spent almost 300 a month on a spot in Medellin that was supposed to be the best. Honestly, I bought into the whole idea that being around other digital nomads would make me more serious. Tbh it just made me compare my progress to theirs and feel anxious. Switching to a simple cafe with no community events was the best move for my actual work.

Ever try working in a hostel common area? It's like what finley_lee said but with more people asking where the free walking tour starts.

Honestly, the biggest thing for me was realizing those spaces made me feel like I was 'at work' in a bad way. Like I was back in an office, just with better decor. My brain shuts down a little with that vibe.
