Update: I just read that the first fully digital art auction at Christie's in 2013 only had 5 pieces and they sold for under $100k total, which feels crazy now.

Found this in an old article while researching NFT history, and it makes me wonder if we're in another bubble or if digital art's value is finally being seen for real... what do you think?

Remember when I thought buying a digital wallpaper for my phone was a waste of money? That auction price makes my old ringtone purchase look like a solid investment. It's hard to say if it's a bubble, but the sheer amount of money and attention on digital stuff now is totally different from 2013. Feels like a mix of real cultural shift and a lot of hype.
