The gallery in Portland let visitors take flash photos of the digital displays

I went to that new digital art showcase in Portland last weekend. The whole place is interactive screens and projection mapping, really impressive stuff. But they actually let people use flash photography right in front of the displays. Half the pieces had these ugly glare spots and washed out colors because of it. I get that they want social media buzz, but it ruined the experience for anyone trying to actually see the art. Has anyone else run into this at a digital art exhibit?

Portland gallery actually banned flash photography in their main rooms, I think you might be thinking of a different spot or a specific event night. They have signs everywhere about no flash around the projection pieces because the sensors can get messed up. Did you maybe catch the after hours party where they had different rules? That would explain the glare issues too if people were using phones in the dark.

I dunno, feels like we're acting like these projectors are made of origami or something. Pretty sure a quick phone flash isn't going to wreck the sensors, I've seen way worse at concerts with those laser shows.
