I thought digital art NFTs were just a dumb trend until I saw one help a friend
My buddy in Austin made a simple pixel art monster last year and minted 50 copies as an NFT. I laughed and said it was a waste of time and the $70 in gas fees. He sold out in two days and made over $2,000, which he used to buy a new drawing tablet. It wasn't about the crazy money stories, it was seeing a real artist get paid directly for his work. That changed my whole view on how digital art can find an audience. Has anyone else had their mind changed by a specific project or sale?

Honestly, the thing that gets me is the proof of ownership part, which sounds boring but matters. My sister is a digital animator, and her stuff gets ripped and reposted everywhere with no credit. She put a few pieces as NFTs, not to get rich, but because that blockchain record is like a permanent signature she can point to. It's less about the sale and more about having a tool to say "I made this, and here's the date I made it." That's a real use that helps artists in a messed up system.

Remember when we all agreed it was just expensive links to monkey pictures? My cousin made an NFT of a blurry photo of his foot because he was bored. Some guy paid him eighty bucks for it. Now I have to pretend that's a valid art market while my cousin brags about his "collector." The whole thing feels like a prank that got way out of hand.
