Appreciation post: That pro artist who told me to stop blending so much

A digital painter with 15k followers told me my work was overblended and to leave rough strokes. I ignored them for 6 months until my pieces started looking muddy every time. Who's given you advice that you fought at first but it ended up being spot on?

Man that blending thing hits hard. I spent a whole year forcing myself to use hard edges in my landscapes because a guy on a forum said my trees looked like green cotton balls, and it transformed my work completely.

My buddy Dave spent six months painting with the SAME brush because some instagram guy said you only need one. His landscapes looked like muddy fingerprints till someone finally told him to buy a flat brush. Now he won't shut up about brush variety.

Told my buddy his truck looked fine after he asked if the engine sounded weird. Thing threw a rod 200 miles later. Guess who's not getting life advice from me again.
