Rant: Stop calling every empty mall a 'dead mall' just because it has vacancies
The Westfield mall near me in San Jose has 30% empty stores but the food court is still packed on weekends, so calling it 'dead' ignores the ones that are truly abandoned like the old MetroCenter where the escalators don't even work anymore - has anyone else noticed people using the term too loosely?

Oh man, I feel this so much. There's a mall near me in Fremont that's maybe 40% empty but the movie theater and the food places still get tons of people on Friday nights. Calling that the same as those dead malls where you see birds flying around inside is just wrong. Some of those truly abandoned ones have such bad roofs that water pools on the floor when it rains.

I guess my mall is the kind where you'd find me eating a pretzel while a pigeon stares at me from a puddle. @christophermorgan, at least your place has a fighting chance.
