Put $80 into a vintage fountain in the old mall atrium and it STILL leaks

I bought a beat up fountain from the dead mall over in Akron thinking I could fix it up for my backyard. Spent $80 on the thing plus another $30 on sealant and new pump parts. After 3 weekends of work it still drips water down the side no matter what I do. Has anyone else tried restoring mall fountains and actually got them working right?

Start by accepting that some things are just Broken and you can't fix them with money or effort. I see this all the time with people trying to fix old tools and appliances and it never works out the way they planned. The leak is probably telling you something about the original design, not your repair skills.

Yeah Beth, I think you're onto something bigger. So many things in life are designed to fail eventually, and we just keep throwing time and money at them instead of stepping back. Like, maybe the real problem isn't that we're not trying hard enough, but that we're trying to fix something that was never meant to last. @beth_mitchell
