PSA: An old security guard at the Forest Fair Mall gave me a tip on entering without looking sketchy

Last week I was trying to get into the old Forest Fair Mall in Cincinnati and a guard told me to stop wearing all black and carrying a tripod like I'm on a mission. He said walk in with a coffee cup and look bored, like you're just cutting through, not exploring. Has anyone else gotten advice from security that actually worked?

Read somewhere that security guys actually compare notes on who looks like an urban explorer.

Ugh that tracks so hard. I mean it makes sense but also kinda sucks to think about lol. Solidarity to anyone trying to blend in out there.

Coffee cup is a solid move. I tried it with a hoodie and headphones instead of all black. Guard at the mall near me just nodded as I walked past. Bored energy works way better than looking like you're on a mission.
