My old camera battery died right as I found the last open store in the Brookfield Galleria.

It was a RadioShack, of all places, and the guy working there just shrugged and said 'we close for good next week anyway'. Anyone else have gear fail at the worst possible moment in a dead mall?

Remember my old GPS dying in a nearly empty mall parking lot during a road trip. That sinking feeling when the screen goes black and you realize you're totally lost. Dead malls have this weird energy that makes tech failures feel extra final, like the whole place is giving up. What did you end up doing for a battery?

Always thought that was just bad luck... but a dead mall killing your gear right when you need it feels like the universe just giving up.

Honestly read somewhere that dead malls can have weird power surges from old wiring. Might explain why electronics just give up there.
