I finally walked through the old Piccadilly Square Mall outside Des Moines last week

Comparing its original 1986 food court layout to the dead 2005 renovation made me realize the open atrium design was way better than the cramped corridor tunnel they added, has anyone else noticed how later expansions killed the flow at their local dead malls?

The old Southridge Mall had the same problem with their 1999 expansion.
