My 'new' daily driver is a ThinkPad T420 from 2011
I had to pick between getting a cheap Chromebook for $200 or sticking with my old T420 that I snagged off eBay for $80. I went with the ThinkPad because I love having a real keyboard and the ability to swap drives and RAM whenever I want. Has anyone else chosen an older business laptop over a newer budget machine and not regretted it?

Hold up, let's be real here. You're comparing an 80 dollar used laptop to a 200 dollar Chromebook and acting like it's some big life choice. That's not a tough decision, that's just common sense. Of course the ThinkPad is better, but let's not pretend you're making some kind of deep philosophical stand. You bought a 13 year old computer because it was cheap and you like tinkering with it. That's fine, but don't act like you're fighting the good fight against budget laptops. The Chromebook would probably just be slow and annoying anyway.

Totally agree, I did the same thing and it’s crazy how much better an old ThinkPad runs than those cheap Chromebooks.
