Part of me thinks he is right that a phone that only makes calls will outlast every smartphone I have owned since 2009, but another part thinks he is just used to it and would change his mind if he ever tried to text my kids, so where do you all land on whether old tech is truly better or just simpler because it does less?
Idk man, I feel like this is the same thing as people who swear by their 20 year old truck because it's easy to fix and never has computer problems. My uncle is like that with his lawn mower and his coffee maker too, and honestly the pattern is that old stuff lasts because it was built to do one thing and no one expects it to do more. The minute you add texting, apps, a camera, whatever, you add a hundred ways for it to break. So maybe your grandpa isn't wrong, he just has a way simpler deal going on.
