Found my old Nokia 3310 in a drawer, battery still had a charge after 8 years

Pulled it out of a box last night while cleaning out the garage, and the thing beeped at me like it was just waiting for a text... I remembered texting with my thumb under the desk in high school, no screen scratches either. Does anyone else keep a dumb phone around for emergencies or am I just sentimental about old bricks?

Did you see that article about how old phones still hold a charge way longer than new ones? I read somewhere it's because the batteries were a different type, like nickel metal something instead of lithium. My old Motorola flip phone from 2008 still turns on too, crazy how they lasted. I keep mine in my glovebox for emergencies, never know when your smartphone dies and you need to call for a ride.

Yeah just swap out the old battery pack once and that thing will outlive your next two smartphones easy.
