That $120 'premium' journaling app taught me nothing about myself
After 14 months of logging every mood, habit, and coffee I drank, I deleted it last Tuesday and realized I spent all that time tracking instead of actually thinking, so has anyone else burned cash on a app that just made you feel productive?
Buried $80 in one of those mood tracking apps that gave me a little tree that grew every time I logged a "good day" and honestly watched my tree die in a drought for like six weeks because I kept forgetting. All that data just sat there, a graveyard of check-ins about sleep and water intake that never once told me why I was cranky or what actually helped. The only real insight I got was that I drink way too much coffee and that didn't need a $120 subscription to figure out. Deleted it too, felt lighter in like two seconds. Somewhere there's a startup guy with a spreadsheet of my anxiety who's got more self-awareness about me than I do. Now I just write three messy sentences in a notes app when things feel off and call it a day.
