PSA: Bought a $40 museum pass for a Chicago trip and used it exactly once
There was a quote on the back of the pass that said "admission does not equal attention," and I laughed at it on day one and then basically proved it right by rushing through four galleries in 90 minutes. I paid for the full week pass but my feet gave out after the first museum, so I ate the rest and watched everyone else's photos from the hotel. Did anyone else pick a pass or bundle based on the quote on the packaging and regret it?
I did the same thing with a CityPASS in NYC years back, paid for like five attractions and only hit two because I spent way too long at the Natural History Museum. The thing with these passes is they sound like a deal until you realize you need to sprint between places to break even, and that's not how anyone actually enjoys a museum. I ended up skipping the Guggenheim entirely because my legs were dead and I just wanted a slice of pizza and a nap. That quote on your pass is actually pretty sharp, because paying for access and actually soaking anything in are two totally different things. Next time I'd just buy single tickets to the two or three places I really care about and skip the bundle guilt.
