Serious question, has anyone moved their whole family off SMS two-factor codes?
I set up 2FA on my banking and email back in 2019 and thought I was doing great, mostly because the codes came to my phone. Last Tuesday my cousin in Tampa got hit with a SIM swap and the guy drained $4,800 from her checking account in about 20 minutes. Now I'm using an authenticator app for everything and looking at hardware keys, but my parents are 68 and still text me codes to log in. What's the easiest way to get older family members onto something safer without a 45 minute phone call every time?
