Ransomware hit my laptop at a coffee shop in Seattle, here's the aftermath
Opened a fake invoice attachment while on the public wifi and my files got locked within minutes. Took me 3 days and $140 to recover from backups, has anyone else dealt with locker ransomware from a cafe network?

Man that sucks. Public wifi is not the problem here, it's the fake invoice file. That stuff gets past antivirus all the time because you have to click it yourself. Best thing I ever did was turn on file history and keep a backup drive that stays unplugged except when I copy to it. Ransomware can't lock what it can't see. Also set your email to not auto download attachments, makes you stop and look before opening junk.
