I had to talk my elderly client's son out of using "Password123" for her online banking after he bragged about it at the grooming counter last Tuesday

He said, "It's easy to remember and nobody would guess it," right after I watched him type the exact same password into the store wifi, and now I wonder how many other people out there think complex passwords are just a suggestion for other people.

Honestly, people overthink passwords way too much. The whole "complex password" thing is pushed by tech companies to cover their own lazy security. If you're not storing government secrets or millions in crypto, "Password123" is probably fine because most attackers go after big targets, not random people's bank accounts. Ngl, I've used variations of the same simple password for years and never had a problem, and I bet most people here have too without admitting it. Tbh, the real security risk is the bank's own system being vulnerable, not some old lady's password that her son picked for her. The son was just being practical since she'd forget something random like "Fj28$mQx" and get locked out every week.

It is wild how much we overcomplicate things that barely matter.
