Three hours to fix one misplaced diode

Never again. I bought a multimeter and check every diode right after I solder it now. Has anyone else spent way too long hunting one tiny mistake?

I read somewhere that experienced builders keep a microscope on their bench just to check solder joints and diode orientation, seems like overkill until you spend hours chasing a ghost like that. The whole thing about checking diodes first thing is a solid habit though, saves you from that sinking feeling when you fire it up and nothing works. Funny how one little backwards part can ruin a whole day of work.

Learned that lesson the hard way myself. Now I always buzz through every diode with a multimeter before I even bother soldering anything else, saves a lot of headache.
