Dropped my first solder joint build on the floor in Denver and had to start over
Back in 2019 I was putting together a 65% board on my kitchen table in Denver and knocked the whole thing off the edge while reaching for a beer. The PCB cracked right at the USB port and I just sat there staring at it for like 10 minutes. Ended up ordering a replacement and this time I taped everything down with painter's tape before I even touched the iron. Has anyone else learned the hard way to secure stuff before you start working on it?
Painter's tape is overkill for most builds. I've done maybe 30 boards on my kitchen table and never lost one, just keep your workspace clear and don't reach across the board for anything. The real issue was the beer, not the tape. Set your drink on a separate table and you won't have that problem again.
