Sponsorships are lying to your audience more than you think

I keep seeing creators defend sponsored posts as just another ad, but it's not the same as a TV commercial. When you slot a brand into your regular content without being clear about the payout terms, your viewers assume you actually use the product. I did a sponsorship for a project management app last March, took the money, and then went back to my old spreadsheet system two weeks later. My audience asked about it for months and I had to admit I never really switched. That's when I realized most creator sponsorships are just paid testimonials, not honest reviews. The smart ones label it as an ad and still give real pros and cons. The rest of you are burning trust to hit a monthly revenue target. Has anyone else turned down a big offer because you couldn't vouch for the thing?

The trust hit is way bigger than any paycheck cause once people figure out you shilled for cash they stop believing anything you say, even the stuff you actually mean. That paid testimonial label is the only honest way to do it and even then you gotta be picky about who you take money from.
