Six months on Substack vs Patreon, I finally picked a lane
I ran the same weekly niche newsletter on both platforms since last fall, and Patreon won it for me around March. Substack brought in 980 subscribers but almost zero paid conversions, while Patreon got me 42 paying members at 5 bucks a month. The real difference was the comment section, people actually talked to each other over there instead of just liking posts. Has anyone else split-tested platforms and found the smaller one worked better for actual income?
