PSA: a workshop leader in Austin said my prompt was doing too much work, and she was right
She told me a good prompt leaves one door open instead of three, so now I write the setup, the character's want, and one weird object, then stop and let whoever reads it figure out the rest, and honestly I get way better scenes out of it, so what's the one thing you cut from your prompts that made them better?

The "one weird object" thing is spot on in my experience. I used to cram in a whole backstory and three side characters and it just made everything stiff. Cutting the backstory and letting people fill in the gaps themselves gave me way better stuff, but your mileage may vary depending on who's reading it.
