Tried a remote boom camera setup on a job in Phoenix last week

I rigged a GoPro to my hook block so I could see blind picks from the cab without the spotter radio. Worked smooth until the live feed lagged by about 3 seconds and I almost creamed a scaffolding. Anyone else mess with camera systems or just stick to hand signals?

I mean, 'live feed lagged by about 3 seconds' is exactly the kind of thing that makes me wonder why we trust tech to fix everything so fast. It's like how people will use GPS for a route they already know, then get stuck in construction traffic because the app hasn't updated yet. Technology is great until it forgets it's supposed to be helping us, not guessing for us. Maybe it's just me, but I see this pattern all the time where we swap out the simple, reliable thing for something fancy that works 90% of the time, and that 10% is when stuff gets bent.

My friend's GPS took her down a dead end once. She just laughed.
