That cheap lifting sling I bought on Amazon cost me more in the end

I needed a replacement for a 2-ton synthetic sling in a hurry last spring, so I grabbed a 15 dollar one from a no-name seller. The first few lifts went fine on a job over in Denver, but on the fourth pick the stitching just gave out and the load shifted. It dumped a 600 pound steel beam onto the mud, which bent the beam and set us back half a day. Anyone else had luck with budget rigging gear or is it just not worth the gamble?

Never trust a sling whose manufacturer you couldn't call.

kevin_adams is right about that "couldn't call" part. Last year I bought a cheap sling off Amazon from some brand I never heard of. It looked fine in the pictures but when it showed up the stitching was already pulling apart. I tried to call the number on the package and it was just a recording saying the line was disconnected. That's when I knew I messed up. Now I only buy from places I can actually get on the phone if something goes wrong. You really have to check if a company is real before you hand over your money.
