Rant: That cheap aftermarket load indicator cost me a full day's work

I bought a 'Pro-Sight' load indicator online for $180 to replace my old one, thinking I'd save a few bucks. The thing started giving false readings after just two weeks, and I had to shut down a whole lift at the Bayview site yesterday to double-check everything with manual charts. Has anyone found a reliable brand that won't fail on you mid-job?

It's the same story with everything now... you try to save a little money and it ends up costing you more. My neighbor had a cheap battery charger catch fire in his garage. The price tag looks good until you're stuck fixing a bigger problem. Sometimes that extra cost for a known brand is just paying for peace of mind. I stick with the old names in the catalog, even if the invoice hurts a bit more.

That "peace of mind" you mentioned is why I finally bought the good smoke detectors last year.
