Our crew's rigging time on a steel job in Cleveland went from 3 hours to under 90 minutes

We used to hand-signal everything, but after a new foreman pushed for headsets six months ago, the change was huge. The big difference was clear talk and no more waiting for a line of sight. I think the gear is worth the cost, but some older guys say it kills the old-school skill. What's your take on communication tools on site now?

What old-school skill, yelling over a crane?

Honestly, the safety angle gets me. A clear "stop" in your ear beats a missed hand signal when someone's not looking. That's not old school, it's just smart.

Right? Like how many accidents happen because someone assumed a visual cue was seen? What if we just made voice commands standard everywhere?
