Old timer told me to run the load line slower on a pick last week
I ignored him, swung the beam into a column, and now I'm out two hours and 400 bucks in rigging damage - has anyone else learned that lesson the hard way?

That's a tough one man... $400 in rigging damage stings bad. I've been there with a load line that I swore was running fine until it wasn't.

The old timers know their stuff for a reason. I learned the hard way after running a load line too fast on a bridge crane and watched a bundle of steel tubing swing right into a rack. Pissed me off because I had to replace three slings and a shackle. Now I always slow it down when I'm picking close to anything solid. Saves your wallet and your blood pressure.
