Had a week in Seattle where every lift was a blind pick over a building.

The spotter on the radio was a guy named Carl who had a real calm voice, and he talked me through setting a 15-ton AC unit on a roof I couldn't see from my cab, which made a tough job feel almost easy, so what's the best blind pick tip you've ever gotten from a spotter?

My old spotter Frank always said to trust the first inch of movement more than your eyes. That advice saved a pallet of glass once.

Honestly that sounds like a line from a movie. Tbh most stuff shifts a tiny bit when you start moving it, doesn't mean it's gonna fall. A pallet of glass is serious, but for regular boxes or gear that first inch thing feels like overthinking it. Sometimes your eyes are just fine.

Yeah I read a safety guide that said the same thing about that first inch telling you everything. It's saved me from a couple close calls with heavy boxes.
