I finally got my wife to play It Takes Two with me and we beat the whole game in 3 weekends
My wife has never really been a gamer. She plays phone stuff sometimes but always said couch co-op was my thing with my buddies. About a month ago I set up It Takes Two on the PS5 in our living room in Cleveland and just left it on the title screen one night. She asked what it was and I said it's a two player game where you have to work together. She sat down just to try the first level and we ended up playing until almost 1am. We finished the whole thing last Sunday, took us 3 weekends and probably 18 total hours. The cool part is she started calling out puzzles before I saw them and got mad at me when I rushed ahead. Now she keeps asking what other two player games are like it. So what should we try next? She likes the teamwork stuff more than fighting, if that helps.
Man, this is such a good reminder that people aren't "not gamers," they just haven't found the right game yet. I've seen it with my brother and board games, swore he hated them for years, then we played a co-op one and he's the one texting me to come over. Same thing with my neighbor and cooking, said she couldn't cook, turns out she just hated following recipes alone. Once the thing clicks, the label falls right off. Sounds like your wife was a gamer this whole time and just needed the right door in.
