Debate: Should I fix my busted hot tool or just buy a new one?

Honestly, my Babyliss nano titanium flat iron cracked right in the middle of a blowout last Tuesday in Austin. I was halfway through a client's hair and the plate just popped off, no warning. Tbh, I could maybe glue it back on or find a repair shop, but a new one runs about $120 and I'm torn. Has anyone else dealt with a tool failing mid-service and had to decide between fixing it or replacing it on the spot?

The plate just popped off mid-blowout?! That's wild.

Three weeks ago I would have said you were exaggerating. My uncle ran a tire shop for 25 years and swore he never saw a wheel split like that. But last Tuesday I was driving my old F150 on I-94 and heard a loud pop from the rear. I pulled over and the entire outer half of the alloy was gone. Just the inner rim holding the bead together by maybe an inch of metal. Changed my whole view on cheap aftermarket wheels.
