Watched a flat earther friend try to prove his point with a laser pointer

My buddy Mark from work kept saying the horizon proves flat Earth, so last weekend we went down to Lake Michigan with a cheap laser pointer. He aimed it across the water for three miles and swore it would stay level, but the dot disappeared behind the curve about halfway. I didn't even argue, just let him see it himself. Has anyone else had a theory fall apart this fast when you actually test it outside?

Seems like testing things yourself is the quickest way to kill a bad theory.
