Serious question, did a guy at a Columbus meetup change how I debate flat earth stuff?
At a Columbus debate meetup in March a guy named Derek ripped into me for only using YouTube clips to back up my points, and honestly it stung because he was right. So I switched to pulling actual flight path data and shipping records, which takes way longer but holds up better when someone pushes back. Now I'm stuck on whether that makes me more credible or just slower and more boring to argue with. Anyone else had a critic call out their sources and did it actually help your case?
I had a similar thing happen when I was arguing about moon landing stuff and a guy pointed out I kept using the same three grainy clips. So I started pulling raw NASA transcripts and mission logs and it was brutal, hours of reading just to win one point in a chat. My wife thought I lost my mind printing out pages of Apollo 11 transcripts at the library. Honestly the data did shut people up faster but man it killed the fun of the back and forth.
