My buddy's whole 'flat earth' argument fell apart when I asked him to explain time zones.

He spent 20 minutes trying to draw a flat map that accounted for Sydney seeing sunrise before Los Angeles, then just said 'the government fakes the satellite feeds' and changed the subject.

Oh man, that's the whole playbook right there. I see it all the time with stuff like this (not just flat earth, but other wild theories too). When a simple, real-world fact wrecks the whole idea, they just jump to a bigger, unfalsifiable claim like "everything is faked." It's a way to never have to admit being wrong, because you can just say any proof against you is part of the lie. It gets exhausting.

Satellites are just one of many proofs, really.

Man, I saw a video once where a pilot explained how flight paths work. He said flying from Chile to Australia, which happens all the time, would be impossible on a flat map. You'd run out of fuel. The only way the trip makes sense is on a globe. What do they even say about that, that all the pilots are in on it too?
