I compared two photos of my town's skyline from 2015 and 2023 and the difference is not what I thought
I found an old photo I took from the hill by the river in 2015 and took the exact same shot last week. The sky in the 2023 one is way hazier and has this milky white look at the horizon that just wasn't there 8 years ago. My first thought was chemtrails or some kind of spraying, but then I looked at the trees in the background and saw the beetle damage has spread from about 10 acres to over 60 in that same stretch. I'm not saying the haze is from beetles, but I did some reading and the county extension office shows bark beetle numbers up 4x since 2016. Now I'm second guessing whether the sky change is pollution, drought stress on the forest, or something else entirely. Has anyone else taken a before/after photo like this and actually figured out what was causing the change?
