Can we talk about how a single debunk video made me recheck my own sources
I used to just repeat stuff I read in threads here without digging into where it came from, and honestly I got called out for it last month. Someone replied to my post about the Denver airport murals and pointed out I was linking a blog that had no dates or names, just claims. That stung, but they were right, so I spent about three hours that night tracking down the actual airport art program page and a 1994 news piece from the Rocky Mountain News archive. Turned out half of what I thought I knew was just copied from other people who also never checked. Now I keep a little text file with the source, the date, and who published it before I post anything here. How do you all handle it when someone points out your source is weak, do you just drop the claim or go dig for the real one?
Honestly keeping a text file with the source and date sounds like a lot of work for a forum post, and half the time the "real" source you dig up is just some other blog anyway. People act like tracking down a 1994 news clip proves something, but that just means you found one more person who said it.
