Was always told power trowels were for lazy finishers, but after a 3,000 square foot warehouse floor in Denver I changed my mind real fast.
I spent 10 years hand troweling everything, even big slabs, because I thought machines made you sloppy, but then I watched a guy use a ride-on on a high tolerance floor and the finish was way flatter than anything I ever did by hand, has anyone else had a tool they swore they'd never use turn out to be worth it?

Oh man, same here. I swore off power trowels for years thinking they were cheating, then borrowed one for a 5,000 sq ft basement slab and felt like an idiot for not using one sooner.

You ever notice how we all have this thing where we refuse to try something new because it feels like cheating? Like using a laser level instead of a string line, or renting a walk-behind instead of a kneeboard. @thea692 I did the exact same thing with a drywall lift. Wouldn't touch one for years, thought real finishers just muscled it up. Then I had to hang 20 sheets of 5/8 on a ceiling and my back said "nope." Now I won't even look at a job without one. It's funny how pride makes us work harder, not smarter.
