Warning: My crew almost lost a $15k patio slab in Austin last month when the power trowel battery died mid-pour.

We had to hand finish the last 200 square feet with magnesium floats in 95-degree heat before the concrete set, so what's your backup plan for a dead machine?

Ouch, hand floating 200 sq ft in that heat sounds brutal. When you say backup plan, are you guys just running extra charged batteries now, or is there something else on site like a small gas-powered trowel? I've seen crews keep a beat-up old backup machine in the truck just for this.

Our crew just pushes through with extra water and more breaks.
