My trowel angle changed after a 20 year veteran called me out on a slab in Austin
I used to hold my finishing trowel almost flat, like the book says. Then this old timer walked over during a pour last spring and just said 'you're burnishing the cream off, not finishing it.' He wasn't rude about it, just pointed at the surface. He had me tilt the handle up maybe 15 degrees and slow my passes way down. Night and day difference. The slab came out smoother and didn't dust as bad. I've been doing it his way ever since. Anyone else get corrected by someone way older and actually listen, or am I the only one who stubbornly had to be shown twice?

Flat trowels work fine if the mix is right. The angle fix is for hot weather cream.
