I finally quit floating my slabs with a magnesium float, and the finish told me why
I used a mag float on every pour for six years because that is what the old guy who trained me in Tulsa did. Last spring I switched to a wood float for the first pass on a 24 by 30 shop slab in Broken Arrow and the cream came up way more even, plus the trowel lines closed up with half the passes. My edger still does the work on the edges, but the middle of the slab finished cleaner than anything I did before. Anyone else notice the mag float is actually pulling too much cream on hotter days?
