That server room at a law firm in Denver taught me not to trust the floor drain
Came in Monday morning to find three inches of water from a burst pipe and the UPS units sitting right in the puddle, so I had to pull every single battery pack and dry them out with a shop vac, and has anyone else dealt with water damage on rack-mount UPS gear?

That pulled every single battery pack and dried them out" part hit close to home. I used to think floor drains in server rooms were basically useless, but after seeing three inches of water sitting there with no way out I completely changed my mind. A good floor drain would have saved you a ton of work that morning.

Oh man, a buddy of mine had something similar happen at his work (not IT, but a warehouse). They had a burst pipe and the drains were totally blocked with dust and junk. He said it turned into basically a swimming pool before they could get it under control. Definitely makes you rethink those little drains.
