My aunt's computer was running slow, and she blamed it on 'internet ghosts'.
I drove over to check it out, and found her desktop filled with toolbars from sketchy downloads. After cleaning it up and showing her how to avoid those sites, she was amazed. Do you often help family with strange computer problems?

My uncle calls pop-ups 'digital gnats'. I'm on speed dial for family tech support.

Digital gnats is a perfect name for those annoying pop-ups. @gavint26, do you find the family tech support calls are mostly about simple stuff like that, or do you get hit with real headaches sometimes? Just curious how deep the rabbit hole goes for unpaid family IT.

Yeah, it's wild... a buddy of mine got a call from his aunt last week. She was sure her computer was haunted because the cursor kept moving on its own. Turns out she'd downloaded some 'free cleaning tool' that was really malware. He spent hours on the phone walking her through removing it, and she almost clicked on more scams during the process. Her email got hacked and sent spam to everyone she knows. So from digital gnats to full-on digital disasters... the rabbit hole goes deep.
