Had to choose between a full reimage or a deep clean for a virus-packed laptop from a local school
The teacher brought in a laptop with 30+ malware hits, and I had to pick between a 4 hour deep clean with Malwarebytes or just wiping it and starting fresh. I went with the wipe because the system files were already messed up, but now the school is mad about losing some old program data. How do you guys handle these calls when the client doesn't have backups?

Man, that's a rough spot. I mean, 30+ hits is a total system meltdown, so a wipe was probably the only safe call. It's the worst when there's no backup and you have to be the one to deliver that news.
