Lost $2,400 on a "guaranteed" tenant placement service in Tucson
Signed up with a company called Desert Key Property Solutions last spring to fill a small retail space I own off Broadway in Tucson. They charged me $2,400 up front and promised a vetted tenant in 60 days, which turned into 7 months of nothing but excuses and a guy who wanted to pay rent in "exposure" for his pop-up candle shop. I finally pulled the listing and found a real tenant myself in 3 weeks through a local Facebook group, so I'm out the whole fee plus 4 months of vacancy. Anyone else get burned by one of these placement outfits, and did you ever get money back?
Plenty of landlords swear by those placement services and pay the fee every time, so maybe the setup itself wasn't the problem. Seven months of candles and exposure pitches sounds more like you just got a lazy rep who stopped working the listing. Did your contract say anything about a refund window or a replacement tenant if they missed the 60 days?
